An Astrometric Calculation Service for the Thai National Telescope
We describe development of a stand-alone astrometric calculation service (ACS) for the 2.4m Thai National Telescope (TNT) in Chiang Main running under Windows 7. An ACS provides similar functionality to a Telescope Control System (TCS) to convert between ICRS catalogue co-ordinates and actual telescope axis positions. The ACS runs as a network accessible stand-alone service without a user interface. It is also planned to use ths ACS in the future 4m New Robotic Telescope (NRT) on La Palma, running under the Linux operating system. Important requirements were for common code base and build environment across the two disparate target systems and an efficient service capable of real-time generation of axis demands.
