DARTS/Astro Query System

DARTS (http://darts.isas.jaxa.jp) is JAXA's space science data archive. We archive not only astronomical data, but also solar, planetary, solar-terrestrial physics, micro-gravity experiment data taken by taken by JAXA's spacecrafts. Previously, we were operating independent query systems for different astronomical satellites, taking account of users' needs for satellite/instrument specific queries. This was not very efficient, and we started development of a new flexible query system which can be used for all the kinds of satellite data. Now, we operate the new DARTS/Astro Query System, which search for almost all the astronomical data archived at DARTS in a consistent manner. We adopt PostgreSQL, PgSphere, Python (Astropy) and ADQL. In the database, precise celestial region of each observation is registered, so that users can obtain any overlapping data with the searched region. For users who want instrument/satellite specific queries, we show examples of the SQL/ADQL statements for those queries. Used queries are saved as static URLs, so that users can reproduce the same searches easily.
